Phone Features Guide for VVX450

The Poly VVX 450 is packed with many advanced features that will enhance your day-to-day business activities and make your life easier. This guide is designed to help you use some of the most popular features with your new Poly VVX 450 phone — right out of the box.

Soft Keys

The soft keys located underneath the phone screen perform the functions that appear directly above them on the display. Their functions are context sensitive, which means the function of the soft keys changes depending upon your current activity. For example, if you are conferencing, the soft keys display functions related to the conference function.

Line Keys

With the VVX 450, you have the ability to access up to twelve physical lines and up to 36 additional virtual keys. The line keys, located to the left and right of the phone screen, indicate the status of your lines and associated activity. The icon informs you when a line is idle, ringing, in use, on hold or disconnected altogether. Use the left and right navigation buttons to change virtual pages of line keys. (Note: the virtual pages don’t appear if an Expansion Module is attached.)

Navigation Keys

The Navigation keys allow you to scroll through the options and lists on the display keys by pressing left, right, up or down. To select an item, press the Select button (the button in the center of the navigation keys).

Answer a Call

To answer a call, simply pick up the handset or press the Answer soft key, Speakerphone key or Headset key.

Place a Call

To place a call, simply pick up the handset or press the New Call soft key, Speakerphone key or Headset key. Then dial the number.

Other Features

Set up Voicemail

  • Either press the Messages key or Initiate a call.
  • If calling, dial *62 or your extension.
  • At the prompt, enter in a unique passcode, then press #.
  • Re-enter your passcode, then press #.
  • Follow instructions to record your name.
  • Follow prompts to:
    • * Access voice mailbox
    • * Access greetings menu
    • * Change passcode
    • * Exit voice portal

Retrieve Voicemail Messages

  • A blinking red “message waiting” indicator light notifies you when you have a new voicemail message.
  • To check your voicemail, press the Messages key or initiate a call and dial *62 or your extension.
  • Enter your voicemail passcode if prompted, then press #. (If you forgot your passcode, please contact your system administrator.)
  • Follow the audio prompts.

Hold & Resume a Call

  • To hold, press the Hold soft key.
  • To resume, press the Resume soft key.

Access Call Lists

  • Call History can be accessed using the Navigation keys.
  • To see Recent calls including placed, received or missed calls (denoted by icon), press the down arrow key or press the Dir soft key and choose Recent Calls
  • To dial a number, scroll to the desired number, then press the Dial soft key or the Select button.

Do Not Disturb

  • To enable Do Not Disturb, press the DND soft key.
  • To disable, press the DND soft key again.

Make a 3-way Call

After the first call is connected:

  • Press the More soft key, then the Confrnc soft key. The active call will be placed on hold.
  • Dial the new party.
  • When the call connects, press the Confrnc soft key again to join the calls.

Transfer a Call

After the first call is connected:

  • Press the Transfer hard key or soft key. (The active call will be placed on hold.)
  • To transfer the call unannounced, press the Blind soft key. Dial the number and hit send. The call will transfer automatically.
  • To speak to the transfer-to party first, Dial the number or extension and press Send. When the party answers, provide details about the transfer. Then press Transfer again to complete.
  • To transfer the call directly to another user’s voicemail, during the transfer process, Dial *55 instead of the extension, then the extension, followed by #. A confirmation will announce the transfer is complete.

Call Forwarding

  • Press the Forward soft key or the Home key.
  • If using Home, press the down arrow on the Navigation keys until the Forward Menu option is selected. Press the Select navigation button.
  • Use the up and down arrows on the Navigation keys to select your option.

  • Enter destination number and press Enable soft key.
  • To disable, follow the same steps and press Disable soft key.

Line Key

With the VVX 400 series, you have the ability to access up to 11 lines. The line keys, located to the left and right of the phone screen, indicate the status of your lines and associated activity. The backlighting informs you when a line is idle, ringing, in use, on hold or disconnected altogether.

Navigation Keys

The Navigation keys allow you to scroll through the options and lists on the display keys by pressing left, right, up or down. To select an item, press the Select button (the button in the center of the navigation keys).

Answer a Call

To answer a call, simply pick up the handset or press the Answer soft key, Speakerphone key or Headset key.

Enter your voicemail pass code, then press #. (If you forgot your pass code, please contact your system administrator.) Follow the audio prompts.

Access Call Lists

  • Call History can be accessed using the Navigation keys.
  • To see recently received calls, press the left arrow key.
  • To see recently placed calls, press the right arrow key.
  • To see missed calls, press the down arrow key.
  • To dial a number, scroll to the desired number, then press the Dial soft key or the Select button.

Do Not Disturb

To enable Do Not Disturb, press the DND soft key. To disable, press the DND soft key again. This key is often found behind the Next key on the soft key panel.

Make a 3-way Call

After first call is connected:

  1. Press the More soft key, then the Confrnc soft key. The active call will be placed on hold.
  2. Dial new party.
  3. When call connects, press the Confrnc soft key again to join the calls.

Transfer a Call

After first call is connected:

  1. Press the More soft key, then the Transfer soft key. (The active call will be placed on hold.)
  2. To transfer the call unannounced, press and hold the Transfer soft key, then select the Blind option.

Dial the Number or Extension

When the party answers, announce transfer. Then press Transfer again to complete. If a Blind transfer, the call will transfer automatically.

To Transfer the Call Directly to Another User’s Voicemail

  1. Dial *55.
  2. Dial the extension, followed by #.
  3. A confirmation will announce the transfer is complete.

Function Keys

Function keys rest on the left side of the numeric keypad. The button, from top to bottom, work the same as the soft keys for Transfer, Voicemail, and Hold/Resume. The the correct context, the hard key is functionally identical to the soft key action.

Call Forwarding

Press the Home key. Press the right arrow on the Navigation key until the Forward icon is selected. Press Select button. Use up and down arrows on the Navigation keys to select your option.

  • 3. Call Forwarding Busy

Enter destination number and press Enable soft key. To disable, follow same steps and press Disable soft key.

To deactivate, dial:

Phone Features Guide for SIP-T46U

The Yealink® SIP-T46U is a 10-line, Gigabit phone packed with many advanced features that will enhance your day-to-day business activities and make your life easier. This guide is designed to help you use some of the most popular features with your new Yealink® SIP-T46U phone.

Soft Keys

The soft keys located underneath the phone screen perform the functions that appear directly above them on the display. Their functions are context sensitive, which means the function of the soft keys change depending upon your current activity. For example, when conferencing, the soft keys display functions related to conferencing.

Line Keys

With the SIP-T46U, you can access up to 10 physical keys and up to 27 total virtual keys. The line keys, located to the left and right of the phone screen, indicate the status of your lines and associated activity. The icon informs you when a line is idle, ringing, in use or on hold. If you have more than 10 shared lines or BLFs assigned, the bottom right line key becomes a page selector allowing you to page through the additional key assignments.

Navigation Keys

The Navigation keys allow you to scroll through the options and lists on the display keys by pressing left, right, up or down. To select an item, press the OK button in the center of the navigation keys.

Answer a Call

To answer a call, simply pick up the handset or press the Answer soft key, Speakerphone key or Headset key.

Place a Call

To place a call, simply pick up the handset or press the Speakerphone key or Headset key, then dial the number. Calls can be placed by choosing a number from History or the Directory.

    • Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select a message, then press the Play softkey
    • Press Delete to delete the message.
    • Press Option to view details or place a call back.
  • To call voicemail, press Connect and do the following:
    • Enter your voicemail passcode if prompted, then press #. (If you forgot your passcode, please contact your system administrator.)
    • Follow the audio prompts.
    • Voicemail can also be reached by calling *62 or calling your extension.

Hold & Resume a Call

  • To hold, press the Hold soft key or Hold hard key.
  • To resume, press the Resume soft key press the Hold hard key again.

Access Call Lists

  • Call History can be accessed pressing the Up navigation key or pressing the History soft key.
  • Use the left and right navigation keys to view All Calls, Placed Calls, Missed Calls or Received Calls.
  • To dial a number, scroll to the desired number, then press the Call soft key or the Select button.

Do Not Disturb

  • To enable Do Not Disturb, press the DND soft key.
  • To disable, press the DND soft key again.

Transfer a Call

After the first call is connected:

  • Press the Transfer hard key or soft key. (The active call will be placed on hold.)
  • To transfer the call unannounced, enter the number and press the B Transfer soft key.
  • To speak to the transfer-to party first, Dial the number or extension and press Call. When the party answers, announce the transfer. Then press Transfer again to complete or hang up. If a Blind transfer, the call will transfer automatically.

To transfer directly to voicemail.

  • During the transfer process, Dial *55 instead of the extension
  • Dial the extension, followed by #.
  • A confirmation will announce the transfer is complete.

Call Forwarding

  • Press the Menu soft key.
  • Navigate to Features and press OK or the Enter softkey
  • Select Call Control and press OK or the Enter softkey
  • Use the up/down navigation keys to scroll to Call Forward and press OK or the Enter softkey
  • Choose from Always Forward, Busy Forward or No Answer Forward and press OK or the Enter softkey.
  • Use the left/right navigation keys to turn an option on/off.
  • Scroll down to each field and enter information, such as Forward to number.
  • Press the Save softkey to enable the forwarding option.
  • To disable, follow the same steps and use the left/right navigation keys to toggle the call forward option off, then press the Save softkey to change your forwarding setting.

Voicemail Guide

Setting Up & Using Voicemail from Your Device

First Time Setup

Dial the voice portal number/extension, or the message key on the handset, then:

  1. If requested, enter your phone extension.
  2. Listen to the voice prompts
  3. Enter a new passcode at the prompt.
  4. Re-enter your passcode at the prompt.
  5. Record your name at the prompt.
  6. Press #.

Your VM is now initialized.

After Initial Set-Up

From Your Phone:

  1. Press the “Messages” key
  2. Input your password

From another IP Phone in your organization:

  1. Press the “Messages” key
  2. Press “*”
  3. Input your extension
  4. Input your password

From a Phone outside your organization to the voice portal:

  1. Dial the Voice Portal number
  2. Input your extension
  3. Input your password

From a Phone outside your organization to your extension:

  1. Dial your phone number
  2. Press “*”
  3. Input your extension
  4. Input your password

Sample “No Answer” greeting:

  • This is Mary Smith and you’ve reached my voicemail on Monday March 16.
  • To leave me a message, press pound or wait for the tone.
  • To reach our operator, press 0.
  • Thank you for calling.

Sample “Busy” greeting:

  • This is Mary Smith and you’ve reached my voicemail because I’m on my phone.
